CLP has assisted Arendals Fossekompani in its acquisition of a majority stake in the German energy storage specialist Commeo GmbH

CLP has assisted Arendals Fossekompani ASA in its acquisition of a majority stake in Commeo GmbH, a German company which provides solutions for commercial and industrial energy storage by manufacturing battery modules and rack systems, including control units and software for monitoring and data logging. The acquisition is part of Ampwell’s growth strategy.

Commeo was established in 2014 and has developed a proprietary energy storage system. Commeo systems typically range from 50 kWh to 1 MWH, and the modular plug-and-play setup allows for even larger systems. Commeo will start the construction of a new production facility this year, and when finished the new production facility is expected to substantially improve Commeo’s production process and capacity.

With Commeo as a key piece of Ampwell’s building block, Ampwell will combine hardware from Commeo with expertise and technology from Volue and EFD Induction, two group companies of Arendals Fossekompani, as well as startup Cellect Energy, resulting in the foundation of an eco-system for battery technology and a Battery-as-a-Service business model.

The CLP team was led by Lars Gunnar Aas and also consisted of Joakim Riis Rønnevig, Axel Manø Juul and Kristoffer Gjesdahl.
